RE Report

June 2010 RE’s Report  - Chuck Dawson

By now, many of you may have heard that I was elected Regional Executive at the June meeting of the Board of Governors.  I am humbled by the confidence shown in me by the Board as well as the other club members who supported me and encouraged me to run.

And I especially want to thank Rick Balderson for his many years of service as our Regional Executive.  All of us recognize the hard work and effort that Rick has made as well his many improvements to the club. I want to personally thank Rick for his service and encourage all of you to show him your appreciation.

It is my intent to continue many of the visions Rick has shown for CFR.  I believe the club is headed in the right direction and it is not my intent to change that.  However, we have many challenges before us - many coming from the SCCA national office.

I will be attending the Southeast Division meeting next month in Atlanta.  Next year's event schedule will be decided at that meeting and there are a number of significant scheduling issues to be resolved before next year's CFR race schedule can be finalized.

Some other issues that you should be aware of are:

1. The SCCA National office is interested in collecting registration data that may require our moving away from DLB to the site they are using (MotorsportsReg).

2. A proposed renewal/extension of our lease for the Sebring Registration Building has been prepared and will be presented to track management for their approval.

3. The Governors have approved an electrical upgrade project to replace some of the old, worn out electrical outlets and cabling in Green Park with up-to-code 30 Amp. outlets for prep shops and competitors.  The area being upgraded is along the fence between Big Bend and the Hairpin.

4. Our August 7-8 Double SARRC will be held at Sebring on the Long Course using the 12 Hour paddock instead of at Daytona since the Speedway will close immediately after the July 4 weekend for major repairs and repaving.

All of CFR's elected officials want to hear your ideas and opinions, so please let them and me know.

Chuck Dawson
